Graham Plate Exchangers

Graham plate heat exchangers are designed to maximize efficiency. One example of this is in the diagonal fluid connections. A fluid which enters the Graham unit on the left-hand side of the unit will exit diagonally to the right. This flow pattern ensures the fluid will be distributed across the entire plate surface area. Other designs, which have the fluids enter and exit on the same side, run the risk of by-passing part of the surface, thus leading to decreased efficiency and increased fouling in these areas.
